Every July, August and September I eat a lot of tomatoes. My wife grows several different types and I love them all. I will actually walk around the garden, pick a few and eat them right there. But I have 2 favorite recipies I create.

For a side dish... slice a big beefsteak tomato thick, salt and pepper it, then set it on the grill for a minute, turn it, add extra virgin olive oil and real mozzarella cheese. Then cut off a basil leaf and set it on top. Another minute later it is done.

As an entree, grill a seasoned turkey burger. Set it on your plate, slice tomatoes, salt and pepper them on both sides, then place it on top of the patty. Then slice a fresh sweet onion and place it on top of that. Put a teaspoon of good steak sauce on top of it all and have at it!

PLUS: Tomatoes are one of nature’s best little helpers when it comes to all kinds of ailments.

Here a couple reasons to love the number one produce of summer:

  1. They are chock-full of Vitamin C, which will keep you nice and healthy during the beautiful summer weather!
