MARION, Ohio -- A Marion teenager is in critical condition after she was hit by a car while riding her bicycle Tuesday afternoon.
According to officials at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Jennifer Steffey, 15, was badly injured when her head hit the windshield of a car in the accident.
A release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol says it appears Steffey ran a stop sign at the intersection of Oak Street and Silver Street at 12:44 P.M. Tuesday. That's when Jerrod Reece, 28, drove through in his vehicle and collided with her. Steffey was apparently ejected from her bike, striking the car's windshield. First responders said she was unresponsive at the scene.
Steffey was flown to Nationwide, where the nursing supervisor confirmed her condition Wednesday morning but wouldn't elaborate on the nature of her injuries.
The patrol is still investigating the crash, Reece was not injured.
