MARION, Ohio -- A recent MARMET/METRICH Drug Task Force initiative netted ten arrests, including several outstanding warrants being served.
Task force members, along with officers from the Marion City Police Department, Marion County Sheriff's Department, and probation officers carried out what they're calling "Operation Summer Heat" on Friday June 14. During the campaign, officials say they used extra manpower in serving warrants and working known drug locations.
Lt. Chris Adkins of MARMET said in a release that this type of proactive operation couldn't be done last year, "Given the reductions in manpower."
During "Operation Summer Heat", nine adults and one juvenile were arrested-including six Marion residents and three men from Detroit, MI. Four were charged on outstanding warrants and four more with possession of illegal drugs including crack and heroin.
Overall, Lt. Adkins called it a, "Very successful night in cracking down on crime in Marion."
