MOUNT VERNON, Ohio -- There is more insight into the deaths of a husband and wife in Knox County earlier this month.
County coroner Dr. Jennifer Ogle told us she suspects a heroin overdose was what killed Krystal McGregor, 20, and her husband Paul, 31, on April 18. "Through autopsies and scene investigation", is how Dr. Ogle says she came to the conclusion that drugs were involved.
The McGregors were reportedly found dead in the bed of their trailer park home by Krystal's father. Mount Vernon police initially suspected no foul play in the couple's deaths. Capt. George Hartz told us the department will continue to investigate the deaths amid these new findings.
The final cause of death will not be known for 6-8 weeks, when a toxicology report is completed. Meanwhile, Dr. Ogle expressed her concerns about the recent rise in heroin deaths in Knox County. According to her, there have been seven fatal heroin overdoses and 41 fatal drug overdoses in the county, since she became coroner in 2009.
