Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine's office released their annual report on concealed carry permits issued across the state Wednesday. Overall, Ohio issued almost 79,000 new permits, DeWine says that's a record-high number and a "dramatic increase" from 2011's 54,000.
The findings were no different in Marion County, where 446 new concealed carry permits were issued, up almost double from a year ago. Other surrounding counties including Crawford, Delaware, Hardin, Knox, and Morrow all saw their numbers increase. The only area county to see a decrease in new permits was Wyandot who fell from 200 in 2011 to 165 in 2012. However, Wyandot did see a big increase in the number of licenses renewed in 2012.
Here are the findings on each area county:
County/New Licenses Issued (2011) / Lic. Renewed ('11)/Lic. Suspended (Denied)
Marion / 446 (233) / 60 (31) / 1 (6)
Crawford / 259 (166) / 59 (11) / 5 (2)
