The Marion City Police Department handed out its annual awards this week and two of their employees were honored.

Officer Mark Elliott was named 2012's Officer of the Year and Dispatcher Matt Cole was chosen as the department's Civilian Member of the Year. Both awards are decided by peer voting.

According to a press release, Officer Elliott has been an officer for ten years and in addition to his work on the police force, he has worked with the MARMET drug task force and as a volunteer with the department's k-9 unit.

Meanwhile, Dispatcher Cole has spent eleven years at that post and has won the award multiple times.

Congratulations also go out to the other nominees, Officers Jamey Ralston and Casey Thomas, Detective Dave Troutman and Dispatchers Kristen Lehman and Dan Werling.
