According to the Marion Police Department, officers responded to Marion General Hospital at 10:30 p.m. last night where a shooting victim was being treated for injuries.

The victim was a 21 year-old male who was shot once in the upper leg. According to the man, he was walking Northbound around the State Street overpass when he noticed another male following him on foot. He claims that this was his last memory befor being transported to the hospital.

Marion Police Lt. B.J. Gruber said, "At this stage of the investigation, it would appear that the victim may be providing us with some misleading information." In a statement, Gruber went on to say, "[We] spoke with several neighbors in the area, none of which reported hearing any gunshots or seeing any unusual activity."

The victim described the shooter as a 6'2'' black male with shoulder-length dreadlocks and a dark-colored flat-billed baseball cap.
