The unemployment rate in Marion County dropped by almost a full percentage point after seeing increases the previous two months. The rate dropped from 8.2-percent for July to 7.5-percent for August. Similar decreases in the unemployment rate were seen in the surrounding counties of Crawford, Delaware, Hardin, Morrow, Union and Wyandot. Statewide, the number of unemployed workers dropped from 418,000 in July to 413,000 in August. And nationally, the unemployment rate for August was 8.1-percent, down from 8.3-percent in July.
