If you’re interested in learning how to become a referee for high school basketball in Ohio, classes will start here locally tomorrow (Sept. 25). But you must complete online registration by today with the Ohio High School Athletic Association. The Web site is officials.myohsaa.org, and you’ll be directed on what to do from there. Local classes will take place in the evening at the Tri-Rivers Career Center in Marion. You would have to commit to a minimum of 25 hours of training; that's in preparation for two online tests, one on the rules and the other on mechanic. The local instructor is Gareth Higgins, and the cost for the course is 120-bucks.
