Marion General Hospital has reached an agreement to purchase the Smith Clinic real estate in Marion. The deal brings the Smith Clinic into OhioHealth’s family of healthcare providers. OhioHealth officials, in a news release, state that the system will create a new, not-for-profit model to employ Smith Clinic physicians and other physicians in the community. The agreement has been approved by the boards of the Smith Clinic, Marion General Hospital and Ohio Health, and will take effect on October 28th. Marion General Hospital paid 17-million-dollars for the real estate and buildings, a price that a third-party appraiser determined to be fair market value.
