Mayor Scott Schertzer wants to remind everyone in the city of Marion that as a result of Monday being Labor Day, there will be some closings. All City Hall offices will be closed on Monday. Marion Area Transit buses will not operate on Labor Day. The Marion Senior Center and the Recreation Center also will be closed. Also, sanitation crews will not work on Labor Day, so residents who normally receive sanitation services on Monday are asked to leave their refuse at the curbside on Tuesday – and both Monday and Tuesday collections will take place on Tuesday.

Necessary services from the fire and police departments and the airport will operate as normal on Monday.

In addition, if the weather permits, the Lincoln Park Family Aquatics Center will be open on Labor Day Monday, which will be the last day that the center will be open for the 2012 season.
