It appears that power has been restored to everyone across the state who lost it from the June 29th storm, and the Red Cross is winding down disaster-response activities, closing down cooling centers and emergency shelters. Some of the thousands who lost electric power didn’t get it back until some time this week. Red Cross officials are thanking response partners across the state for stepping up to help. The Red Cross also is encouraging the public to come up with a plan to be ready for any future disaster. You can find tips at RedCross.org. The relief organization is also encouraging people to become Red Cross volunteers. If you’re interested, you can contact the Marion County chapter at 740-725-9141.
