Results are in from a "Shield Detail" over the weekend in which the State Highway Patrol and the Marion Police Department collaborated to target crime in our area and promote traffic safety. The two-day initiative, conducted on Friday and Saturday, produced the following: 355 traffic stops resulting in 155 citations….also, 12 arrests made for impaired driving. . . . and 11 felony arrests for violations of drug possession, weapons violations and food stamp fraud. . .
There were 17 misdemeanor arrests on drug, weapons and fraud charges. There were 15 arrests for outstanding warrants. . .
Narcotics were also seized during the "Sheild Detail" including two ounces of marijuana, an ounce of crack cocaine, heroin, hash oil and more than a hundred prescription narcotics. Marion police and the patrol were able to pull this off through funding from the "High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas" program.
