The hot topic for the day will likely be the heat, and a heat advisory has been posted for our listening area by the National Weather Service. The counties of Marion, Morrow, Wyandot, Crawford, Seneca and Huron are among those expected to experience today's intense heat. Temperatures are projected to soar higher than any we’ve seen in more than a decade, with an expected high today of 100-degrees. A red-flag warning also will be in effect from noon until 8 p.m., and that means there is a high risk that an outdoor fire could spread; the lack of rainfall adds to the threat. Outdoor burning is not recommended today. Residents are advised to stay in air-conditioned areas as much as possible and be sure to check on friends and relatives, and if you have to be outdoors, drink plenty of water, avoid strenuous activity and wear light, loose-fitting clothes.
