A driver and passenger were killed in a single-vehicle crash late yesterday afternoon that took out several pine trees on State Route 314. The State Highway Patrol reports that the driver, 22-year-old Geoffrey Metz, and the passenger, 21-year-old Ryan Bennett, died in the crash. Both were from Mansfield. There was another passenger, Greg Sloboda, who survived. Witnesses told authorities that the white truck that Metz was driving was speeding as it headed south on 314. After hitting some trees, the truck reportedly flipped over and landed on its side. Sloboda was listed in fair condition at Med Central/Mansfield Hospital.
